Home Health Services Loving Care In-Home Health Services provides dignified, personal, multi-disciplinary health care delivered by experienced, knowledgeable and skilled health professionals. Our team includes RNs and LPNs, Home Health Aides, Physical Therapists, Speech and Occupational Therapists, and Medical Social Workers.
Additional services specific to Loving Care include daily in-home monitoring through our partnership with HomMed, LLC, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Persons who require periodic ECG assessment, overnight pulse oximetry, and frequent cholesterol checks are monitored daily, even when home visits are not regularly scheduled. Staff members who specialize in infusion therapy and perinatal care are available. While physical therapy may be provided in a home setting, we also contract with outpatient clinics when outpatient therapy is ordered by the referring doctor.
Physician Update
Medicare's Prospective Payment System (PPS) was implemented October 1, 2000. Eligibility criteria for Medicare skilled care did not change. Physicians are still required to sign an initial care plan, order updates and 60-day re-certifications. However, home health care is now delivered in a framework with defined objectives that are case-specific and linked to payment. Medicare reimbursement is a fixed amount for the 60-day episode of illness tied to the diagnosis. The average payment for our area is $2,000.00+ for a full 60 days, and includes supplies used, occupational, speech and physical, nurses, Home Health aides, social work and all other expenses necessary for treatment. If an extra skilled nurse visit is ordered, it does not increase the amount of Medicare reimbursement. PPS does not affect referral and certification for home medical equipment. Patients will continue to receive certificates of medical necessity for oxygen, wheelchairs, and other devices that are not part of their home care.
Additionally, homebound status for home health care was redefined in Section 507 of the Beneficiary Improvement and Protection Act of 2000. Patients may still be considered homebound if they attend adult day care services as long as the day care program is certified or accredited by the state. An individual cannot be disqualified from receiving home care services if they leave their home for "the purpose of attending a religious service" or for any absence "of infrequent or short duration."
